I stumbled onto this last night, but what's up with the current prices for Signature Spellbook Gideon version of Martyr's Bond and Worship?

As of this post, they're going for ~$0.70-$1.00 (or so) each from a number of sellers. Normally, these are $7-$10 cards or more. Were they all found to be defective or something? Boggles the mind a bit. I figured they'd be somewhat less expensive compared to their original printings, but this is a bit much for cards that seem to be perfectly fine otherwise.

I think the market may be flooded as people look for foil RIP and Path.

There isn't a huge market for them, EDH only.

I did go buy 4, as I only have 1.

Is the market really that flooded though? I don't really know. I figured most people are after RiP and Path, but I would have expected more like $4-5 for cards that are normally $7-10. Maybe there's nothing about it. Just still feels weird.

Well, if anybody's looking for these cards, grab some cheap copies while you can.

Thanks for the shoutout. For half the price of the sealed product, I got 4x each of the cards I was interested in...Martyr's Bond, True Conviction, Shielded by Faith, Worship. Can't complain.

I keep thinking this thread is for "Which instant/sorcery should I pick for my Gideon Oathbreaker deck?"

I feel like Council's Judgment is a solid pick for any of the Gideons, but it kinda lacks pizazz. Cataclysm's really powerful with any of the turn-into-a-creature-Gideons, but it's probably too mean. Most of the good token generators seem like they'd go better with Ajani Goldmane.

I dunno, kinda stumped.

Tragic Arrogance? Or Hour of Revelation? Good against fair decks anyway. Do people actually play those in Oathbreaker? It feels even easier to break than Commander, but maybe people build casual?

Also, thanks Segrus! I picked up a couple of these cards.

I know next to nothing about the Oathbreaker format, but how good would Path be as your spell for a Gideon deck? Being able to ramp in mono While by Path-ing your own stuff seems good, but maybe too little too late by that point? Plus it's a 60 card format, so not as big of a deal?

NMS, glad you could get some. I'm not sure how long it's going to last.

At the risk of derailment:

I imagine it's playgroup-specific. The LGS I play at is pretty casual, and a lot of the brokenness that I expected, just doesn't show up. For my group, fair decks run the format...it's a lot easier to see a combo in the command zone and 3-on-1 someone when they have 20 life, as compared to 40.

If I'm trying to dome someone with Gideon, I think mass removal that misses him is the way to go. Clear the way.
