Kamahl doesn't pump your teammate's creatures...

are you guys using unified deck construction rules? (would be interesting...)

No, he animates your opponent's lands.

hahaha that's a sweet plan, i wanna do that. although i would rather play ascendant evincar, since black > white.

by unified construction rules, i'm assuming you mean, can we both play the same cards, and if my assumption is correct then i don't know the answer but i'm pretty sure it will be "no". so brothers + brothers, while also a fun idea, is out.

Unified Deck Construction Rules: applied in team constructed events (2HG, 3-player teams, etc.), there cannot be more than 4 copies of any given card in the entire team's decks. So instead of the "4-of" restriction being applied to one player, it is applied to the entire team.

Of course, since this is a Highlander format the "4" would be replaced by "1" in this case. Basically, the 200 cards you and your teammate bring to the table must all be different (except basic lands). I'd think that you local store might let you guys use Brothers Yamazaki tho, it seems like a good idea.

My friend and I played Blue and Black Braids and it was so much fun, and we won. If we wanted to take it even more serious, we would play Eryo and Black Braids. The real point is that you try to get Braids on the board on turn 2 with Sol ring, Mana vault, or mana crypt; or turn 3 with 2cc mana artifacts like cold steel heart, Charcoal Diamond, etc. We used the blue deck to back up with counterspells and bouce spells to protect Braids. In play testing and in the event whenever we resolved a bounce spell at eot/in responce to a kill spell on Braids, we just won. Avoiding the upkeep with Braids for just a single turn is huge. We also built both decks with synergistic cards for braids like Epochrosite, Solomen S., etc. so the blue deck wouldn't also get raped.

One game looked like this:

Swamp, Sol Ring, Go.
Swamp, Briads, Go.
Sacrifice Sol Ring, Draw, Nether trader *mised land drop,* go.
Sacrifice Nether Trader, Draw, Epochrosite *mised another land drop,* go.
Sacrficice Epoch, trigger N.Trader, Draw, Swamp, go.
etc.

Another game we had mana vault turn two braids with turn three Bitterblossom.

so i found out recently that in this particualr event, there will be random teams. so basically everybody brings their own deck & gets randomly paired with someone else. this is to prevent people from using strategies that are obnoxious, like kamahl/evincar or something like that. i guess i can't blame the tournament organizer for making that decision, since i was planning to play an obnoxious strategy myself. anyway, even though i appreciate the help & advice from all of you, it is now all moot. lame, i know. sorry.

the one cool thing though is that because there theoretically won't be any pre-planning of teams, we are not restricted to unified deck construction rules. that's neat, i guess, but i'm not sure if it helps me any.

guess i'll just bring my nath dredge deck and see what happens.
