Question:

Could I play Dark Depths in a R/G/U deck?

or

Could I play something like Summon the School in a W/G deck?

I like that its a format that I can use Sol Ring in. A man can never have enough Sol Rings.

To my knowledge, neither of those cards have a mana symbol that makes it illegal.

Looks OK to me.

The colour of the permanent isn't relevant, only the colour of the mana symbols on it.

This is correct. I would hope you wouldn't out of respect for the flavor of it, but it's not against the rules (just like you can have the U/W fetchland in your U/G deck).

I was just checking.

And in the case of this deck, the functional flavor, I think, trumps the other flavor aspect.

(Its a Rhys the Redeemed and I could generate elves or saprolings with great efficience, but I'm trying to make as many different tokens as possible. EDH is indeed about the flavor of the general, and therefore I believe this color bending fits the spirit as well as the letter of the rules. Additionally: EDH thrives on making unusual funky things happen.)

Since I've never actually seen the Dark Depths token in play, I'd applaud you getting to stay around :)

Actually, its about the Summon the School in a W/G deck.

But Dark Depths is easy to pop, you just gotta play it correctly.

It takes forever so nobody takes it serious. But still, you don't want to have it in play for 10 turns or more. It's best to do it in a deck that generates massive mana.

And yes, I got me a foily Marit Lage token to go with my Dark Depths.

Marit Lage is a great mana investment, then somebody plays Innocent Blood. Doh...

But EDH is the perfect format for Dark Depths to be sure.

Was the point to kill somebody before you own general's forced non-optional upkeep killed you?
