The RC's waiting for this thread to get back on track, but it's a long long way from home.

Personally, I'd like to see the phrase 'Anti-Fun' added to the ban criteria, but some would say that's the same as 'Creates Undesirable Games/Game Situations. I've read enough to know that the RC doesn't like to ban cards, but I could also pick out half a dozen cards that either are the focus of enough hate or that they could find honest reason to ban.

One card I'd like to see added to the ban list regardless is Door to Nothingness, but I would think most play groups don't use it as more of a gentleman's agreement, if they use five color at all. I like to think I do the same regarding a gentleman's agreement when it comes to Darksteel Reactor and Blightsteel Colossus. I doubt anyone would miss those three cards, especially the Blightsteel.

I run Darksteel Reactor in a couple of my artifact shenanigans decks. I don't think I've ever seen anyone groan when it comes out, even with the ability to dump a ton of counters on it... Usually it's hit with an exile effect pretty quickly.

Reactor and Door are pretty bad cards, there's really only going to be a few groups that have to struggle with these. Which, unfortunately for them, might mean "tough shit".

They both seem fine to me. Door is actually awful... You have a lot of time to prepare to counter or remove it if it's such a big deal. I mean, i don't wanna be hit with Door (especially if i think i'll be watching for the next 40 minutes), but if people have that kind of mana; someone has to die anyway and the rest should clean up quick.

Reactor has 20 turns to win. With Coretapper it's like 9. With contagion engine on turn 6 (and still having coretapper), it's like 3 more turns, putting like half your resources into and doing presumably little else.

Don't forget that green and white have a lot of exile or shuffle, and black has 3 (maybe 4?) ways to remove counters. Red has a small amount of exile. Blue has bounce.

IIRC, the only time I've seen Darksteel Reactor played (and won with) was in my friend's Vorel, back when Cheater of Kruphix was still around. Ouch ^_^ But I like the card nonetheless. I like alternate wincons. In fact, I patiently await the time Wizards print altwincon commanders. I'd love to see those. Anyone here play Cosmic Encounters? There are a few races in that game that completely change the goal of the game for you. I'd like to see something like that in Magic. I've even tried to design some myself, the one I like the most being this:
Quote:
Ullux, Envious Celestial
4WBR
Legendary Creature—Archon
5/5
Flying, lifelink
At the beginning of your upkeep, if an opponent has 50 or more life or controls 20 or more permanents, you win the game.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, that player puts a 3/4 red and white Angel Berserker creature token with flying, haste, lifelink and "This permanent attacks each turn, if able." onto the battlefield.

I personally favor an intuitive, deliberate, and humane approach to rules and regulations as opposed to a methodical, automated, and streamlined way that would either minimize human input to a degree that would stifle discussions of dissent or flood human input to a degree that allows popularity to trump substance. Not everything has to be squeeky clean and color-in-the-lines. We don't need a full proof system of determining ban-worthy cards. All we need is a jury with common sense.

Have you read anything the RC has ever said? You aren't actually disagreeing with anything they or pretty much anyone on this forum thinks.

What makes you assume he's trying to state disagreement?
