Does the last part of Surprise Deployment still fire, even if you no longer control the creature?
The Oracle text doesn't mention this.

Surprise Deployment
Cast Surprise Deployment only during combat.
You may put a nonwhite creature card from your hand onto the battlefield. At the beginning of the next end step, return that creature to your hand. (Return it only if it's on the battlefield.)

Example: Deploying a Perplexing Chimera in response to a spell cast during Combat, and then exchange control with the Chimera?
Deploying a creature and then in the Post-Combat Main Phase, casting Switcheroo?

You can't deploy in response to a spell and then use the chimera so it's not super relevant but yes, the card will still return to your hand at end of turn. It creates a delayed trigger that returns the card to your hand. There's nothing stopping it from returning to your hand as long as it's in play.

Conversely, if it had you sacrifice it, that would be stopped since you can't sacrifice something you don't control.

What would stop this from working?

a) During combat your opponent casts Swords to Plowshares
b) You cast Surprise Deployment (Instant) in response.
C) You use SD to drop Perplexing Chimera.
d) As StP resolves, PC is in play and you elect to used its ability.

2/1/2014 You make the decision whether to exchange control of Perplexing Chimera and the spell as the triggered ability resolves.

Perplexing Chimera triggers when the spell is cast, not when the spell resolves. By the time you are responding to a spell, it is too late for something to trigger from the casting of the original spell.

a) Opponent casts swords.
b) Chimera would trigger if in play.
c) Deployment puts Chimera into play.
d) As StP resolves, your creature gets exiled.
e) Chimera returns to hand at end of turn.

You make the decision when the TRIGGERED ABILITY resolves, not the spell you're replacing. The triggered ability triggers when a spell is cast. You've missed this trigger if you're responding to a spell on the stack.
