Ok, have fun with time vault on him. I'm sure red doesn't have any creature haste effects that can be played before him. Glad to see everyone decides to shit on the post than to bring up any relevant discussions.

Except for one problem-- Time Vault is banned.

Time Vault is banned in commander, and there was discussion that the you ignored. Would you like to try again?

I don't like to accuse people of trolling, but I also have a lot of trouble believing that someone who mostly posts about banning/unbannings didn't already know that Time Vault is banned. Even if it weren't, it's a $1000 card that's basically on power 9 status. Nobody is buying a card like that for this deck, and Mairsil is far from the most broken thing you can do with Vault.

So if you have Panharmonicon in play, when this new wizard ETBs, you exile Gemstone Array and Magistrate's Scepter, right? Then you just need to equip Illusionist's Bracers and play Rings of Brighthearth and you can get infinite turns! Ban it! lol

I think you only need either Bracers or Rings, not both. Although having both means you can get infinite turns immediately, if Mairsil has haste.

Play Mairsil, exile Array and Scepter, equip Bracers, activate Array's add-a-counter ability, getting two counters because of Bracers. Next turn, activate again for two more counters, then activate Scepter's extra turn ability, getting two extra turns. Each of those turns gives you two counters, and on the second turn you have enough to take two more turns again.

I'm convinced. Ban him.

The best one card combo's i could find with him as general were tree of perdation and mirror-mad phantom. Both of which can be strong, but are not gamebreakimg.

Tree of Perdition and Mirror-Mad Phantasm

Phantasm is kind of gamebreaking, no? I mean typically you can't mill our whole library for 6 mana. It's on curve for a t5 win pretty easy with Laboratory Maniac. I mean i'm not calling for a ban and i still have a 5c hermit druid deck built.

Is it just me or is the phantasm a nonbo? Doesn't the ability still read "Mirror-Mad Phantasm's owner shuffles it"?

No... when copying abilities, any reference to the original card changes to the name of the card copying the ability.

However -- it's only references to the card/object .. it doesn't change all instances of the ability.

So if Mairsil copied it, it would read:
Quote:
{1}{U}: Mairsil's owner shuffles it into his or her library. If that player does, he or she reveals cards from the top of that library until a card named Mirror-Mad Phantasm is revealed. The player puts that card onto the battlefield and all other cards revealed this way into his or her graveyard.

So, you'd end up with Mairsil & every other card in your library in your graveyard. (obv you can still choose to have Mairsil go to the command zone instead when you mill him.)

Would Tree of Perdition work similarly, and since there's no ToP to reference, toughness = 0?

Ummm, it would work similarly - in that it replaces "Tree of Perdition" with "Mairsil".

So, no it wouldn't be 0.

So how is it a 1 card combo? It doesn't kill someone.
