I am fairly new to EDH, and as such, I am a bit confused by the limit. Is the 100card limit including or not including basic lands? I know the official rules say it includes the Commander, but what about basic lands?

It includes the basic lands.

So you should have 100 cards per deck that you create (or some people prefer to say it as 99+1)

Can I recommend this list as a starting point?

(Self-promotion, ahoy!)

Nitpick: partner commanders exist so the 99+1 really needs a new catchy phrase. But Carthain is correct. Your main deck + general(s) = exactly 100 cards.

Heh. Maybe I need to make a Partner commander deck, just so I can remember that rule :D

Now that the question has been asked and answered I dont feel bad about derailing the topic. Which Wort are you using Red black or Red Green?

That's something I'd like to know as well, if possible!

And yes, the phrase "99+1" exists so that it's clear to newbies that the "+1" means the commander.
