I don't know if this has been discussed before or if this is the correct section to post the question. That being said does anyone else have problems with distracted players making games take forever and nobody paying attention to the board state? What did you all do to lessen it? My group is considering a ban of phones at the table. Thoughts are appreciated, we all don't have a lot of time to play so getting 1 or 2 games a session kinda sucks sometimes.

Just ask them what's the play after a minute, or remind people you'd like to play 3 games. Talking is probably best.

But you could pull out the chess timer (like MTGO).

You could load the Jeopardy theme to your device. Press play whenever somebody has input but isn't paying attention...

Seriously though, if these are meant to be fun, casual games amongst friends; then you probably don't want to bog down with "rules and behavior bans." Talk it out as a group. Discuss priorities and what everyone wants to get out of a game session. Talk about what is "so important" that it is distracting from the game. Maybe the offender(s) don't realize they are nonverbally telling the group "you guys aren't nearly as important as the latest kitten video or Hollywood scandal." But they should know the affected parties feel that way.

And maybe, sometimes, what's distracting them really is important; and some leeway is warranted.
